Dr. Polin Lay

Dr. Lay was born in Cambodia, moved to the U.S when she was five years old, and was raised in Northern Virginia.
Her journey into optometry began at fourteen when she received her first eye exam. Fascinated by the advanced technology and precision of the examination process, she eagerly accepted a shadowing opportunity offered by her optometrist. This early exposure ignited her passion for eye care, leading her to work for a local optometrist throughout high school.

Dr. Lay earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Virginia before pursuing her Doctor of Optometry degree at the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico. During optometry school, she dedicated herself to providing free vision screenings and exams in underserved communities across Puerto Rico. In recognition of her commitment to service, she was honored with the Volunteer Community Service Award upon graduation.

After completing her education, she returned home to Virginia to continue serving her community. Dr. Lay is an active member of the American Optometric Association, the Virginia Optometric Association, and the Northern Virginia Optometric Society. She remains committed to advancing her expertise and delivering exceptional, personalized care to her patients.

Outside of her profession, Dr. Lay enjoys traveling, immersing herself in different cultures, and learning new languages. She also cherishes time with her family and her beloved dog, Hailie, a spirited miniature Dachshund.
