Dr. Hinkle has invested much effort into bringing a cutting-edge standard of care for dry eye including technologies such as Intense Pulsed Light Therapy (IPL), Low-Level Light Therapy (LLLT), Radio Frequency (RF), and Tear Care. Much of Dr. Hinkle’s passion for dry eye therapy is borne out of his own chronic suffering from dry eye syndrome and the fact he has benefited from such technology firsthand.

Dr. Hinkle’s true passion in his life are his family beginning with his wife, Dr. Sapho Doan, and his two, now adult children, Ethan and Ella. Dr. Hinkle treasures time with his family, their pets, Pee Wee, Mimi, Miss Kitty, Reese, and Sebastian. Dr. Hinkle’s sister is a CDC infectious disease specialist and author. As a fun fact, Dr. Hinkle is the grandson of, legendary broadcast journalist, Edward R. Murrow’s, first cousin

Lastly, and most importantly, in the year 2010, Dr. Hinkle was approached by one of his patients about a local, well-known young man who survived being tragically assaulted and left to die in the parking lot of a mini-mart in Morgantown, West Virginia in 2009. This young man’s name is Ryan Diviney and Ryan’s medical state after the tragedy was, he was left in a minimally conscious state and unable to close his eyes. As Dr Hinkle began making home visits to Ryan weekly, he learned about the brilliance of this young man and his family as well as the strength of the Diviney family and the love, compassion, and support of the Ashburn community. Through the years of Ryan’s battle to live and return to a conscious state, Dr. Hinkle came to realize Ryan’s legacy to our world was to bring more love and give more in this life than you take away when you leave. Ryan left this world just weeks before turning 30 years old, on August 31, 2019. Dr. Hinkle has thought of Ryan and his family daily since first meeting them many years ago and Ryan will never be forgotten. Soon, we can all learn more about this young man, his brilliant and tireless parents, Ken and Sue Diviney, and his sister, Kari, whom Ryan considered precious, when the documentary on Ryan’s fight, “Storming”, is set to release in the summer of 2025. For more information, check back on our website as we will post a link as soon as a release date has been set. This is a story we all need in our lives to understand there is good in this world and there are some in this world who are made of something otherworldly.
